An open source project for notification templates?

To set the context, I’m on a mission to help startups improve the quality of their communication with their users. Today I have a question about the templates of your transactional notifications (email, SMS, push, webpush…).

I think templates should be handle inside the code, but should be editable by anyone on the team, which is not possible at the moment. I’d like to start an open source project tackling that, but I’d like to be sure that it’s a real problem.

It might (hopefully) be occasional, but it happens. I’ve seen providers not responding because:

  • They were doing scheduled maintenance
  • They blocked the account because:
    • of a spike the day before :scream:
    • credit card was refused and nobody read the reminders :see_no_evil:
  • They were simply down

Wow, Notif.me SDK reached 1000 stargazers in one week!

I have to admit that I didn’t really know what to expect… Being my first open source project, getting more than 1000 stargazers in less than a week exceeded my expectations by far.

I had the feeling that Notif.me SDK (a Node.js library to send all kinds of transactional notifications) was going to be useful, but this result doubled my motivation.
